Su Shi's Concept of"Emptiness and Tranquility"and Its Poetic Expression
摘要
Abstract
During the Northern Song Dynasty,the thoughts of Confucianism,Buddhism,and Taoism blended and in-teracted with each other.Against this broad backdrop,Su Shi's concept of"emptiness and tranquility"was influenced by the ideas of"emptiness and tranquility"in Buddhism,"void and tranquility"in Taoism,and"emptying the mind and achieving tranquility"in Confucianism.In his poem Seeing Off Monk Canliao,he formally put forward the poetics view of"emptiness and tranquility"."Emptiness and tranquility"was the psychological prerequisite for"the wonderfulness of poetic language"and a manifestation of experiencing the world,and reflected his poetics ideal of pursuing the ulti-mate"wei".Its connotations involved three aspects:the mentality of the creative subject,the creative object,and the aesthetic realm.In the creation of poetry,Su Shi's concept of"emptiness and tranquility"had a guiding significance.The poems in which he embodied this concept meticulously restored the secluded and tranquil place,encompassed the poet's profound feelings of observing the outside world quietly,were plain,natural and full of endless charm,and thus became an important part of the style of Su Shi's poems.关键词
