Measurement Techniques for Low-temperature Physical Properties and Related Research Progress on Physical Properties of Epoxy Resin-Based Composite Materials

Abstract
Superconducting magnets play a significant role in various fields,including medical applications,transportation,indus-trial production,and large-scale scientific projects,due to their small volume,lightweight,stable magnetic fields,and high intensity.In high-field large superconducting magnets,the insulation system is a critical component that ensures the stability and safe operation of the magnet.The insulation materials must function effectively under harsh conditions,including strong magnetic fields and extremely low temperatures,thus requiring characteristics such as high strength,high toughness,electrical insulation,and compatibility with the thermal expansion coefficient of the conductors at low-temperatures.Epoxy resin is widely used in the insulation systems of cryogenic superconducting magnets due to its excellent mechanical and insulating properties at low-temperatures.It primarily serves to secure the superconducting coils,provides mechanical support,and offers insulation,making it essential for the safe and stable operation of su-perconducting magnets.However,epoxy resin often exhibits insufficient strength,poor toughness,and low thermal conductivity when exposed to the extreme environments encountered in superconducting magnet operation.Therefore,the development of high-perform-ance epoxy resin-based composites suitable for the unique operational conditions of superconducting magnets is of paramount impor-tance.This paper primarily explores the research conducted on the physical properties and testing methods of epoxy resin and its com-posites in a cryogenic environment,with a particular emphasis on three aspects:thermal conductivity,electrical aging properties,and mechanical properties.Additionally,it summarizes the shortcomings of the current research and sets forth new requirements for further studies on the behavior of epoxy resin and its composites at low temperatures and the associated testing techniques.关键词
