Effects of selenium-enriched fermentation sludge on production performance,nutrient apparent metabolic rate,and intestinal health of Romaine Pink laying hens

Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the effects of selenium-enriched fermentation sludge on the production performance,nutrient apparent metabolic rate,and intestinal health of Romaine Pink laying hens.A total of two hundred 305-day-old Romain Pink laying hens were randomly divided into five groups with five replicates per group and eight Romain Pink laying hens per replicate.The control group was fed a basal diet,while experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,andⅣ were fed diets containing 1%,2%,3%,and 4%selenium-enriched fermentation sludge,respectively.The pre-trial period was one week,and the formal trial period was six weeks.The results showed that compared to the control group,the average egg weight of the experimental groups was significantly increased(P＜0.05),and the feed-to-egg ratio was significantly decreased(P＜0.05).The apparent metabolic rate of crude protein and calcium in the experimental groups were significantly higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The duodenal villus height in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in experimental groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The ileal villus height in all experimental groups and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in experimental groups Ⅱ,Ⅲ,and Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The cecal villus height in all experimental groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The relative abundance of Lactobacillus in the cecal microbiota of experimental group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The relative abundance of Megamonas and Megasphaera were significantly higher in all experimental groups than in the control group(P＜0.05),while the relative abundance of Desulfovibrio was significantly lower in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅳ than in the control group(P＜0.05).The study indicates that selenium-enriched fermentation sludge can improve the production performance and nutrient apparent metabolic rate of Romaine Pink laying hens,promote intestinal morphological development and improve intestinal health.The experimental group Ⅱ achieved the best results.关键词
