Characteristics of 5 898 children unintentional injuries

Abstract
Objective To analyze the characteristics of pediatric unintentional injuries in a sin-gle center in Dongguan and provide reference for preventing unintentional injuries of children.Methods The case data of children admitted to hospital for the first time due to unintentional injuries from January 2017 to December 2021,which were collected from the hospital information system(HIS)of the hospital.Descriptive methods were used to compare the characteristics of severe cases with com-mon cases.Results A total of 5,898 case records were included,and there has been an increasing trend of unintentional injuries in children in the past five years.From the perspective of pathogenic factors,falling injuries,traffic accident injuries,impact injuries,foreign body injuries,and burns/scalds were the main causes of unintentional injuries,accounting for more than 80％.The composition of the causative factors of both severe cases and common cases were basically consistent.From the population categories,infants had the highest probability of accidental injury,and boys had a higher incidence of unintentional injuries events than girls.Conclusions Parents should pay special attention to the safety of infants and children when taking care of them,and take preventive measures such as collision and falling promptly in time to avoid the occurrence of unintentional injuries.关键词
