Abstract

In the field of railway engineering,the trend toward intelligent development in design,construction,operation and maintenance has raised higher requirements for the expression and management of geographic information.Traditionally,geographic information in the railway industry was represented through CAD format digital topographic maps that focused on visualization and cartographic representation.However,these maps lacked various extended attributes,limiting their ability to meet the needs of collaborative and intelligent design.This paper,considering the need for constructing geographic entity database in railway engineering design,construction,and operation and maintenance,proposes a classification and coding method for railway engineering geographic entities that aligned with national standards.The study investigated the data content of geographic entities and developed a data production scheme,database structure,and storage solutions,which were then tested through an experimental implementation in the Changsha-Ganzhou High-speed Railway project.The results showed that the proposed technical solution for constructing the railway engineering geographic entity database was highly feasible.While the production cost of geographic entities was higher compared to traditional digital terrain maps,their advantage was the ability to provide richer extended attributes,supporting collaborative design,intelligent design,and other advanced applications across various design disciplines.The construction of railway engineering geographic entity databases is still in the exploratory stage in areas such as classification and coding,data production scheme,and data management.Continuous improvements are needed throughout the research and application process.
