Characteristics and Mechanisms of Social Exclusion in High Speed Rail Travel of Elderly People
摘要
Abstract
Population aging presents new opportunities and challenges for the operation and services of high speed railway.Providing aging-friendly high speed railway transportation products and services is a powerful measure in response to population aging.To explore the current situation of high speed rail travel of elderly people in China,this study took the social exclusion theory as the basis and the grounded theory as the research method.With the support of data obtained from in-depth semi-structured interviews with 30 elderly people aged 60 or above,the study explored the characteristics and formation mechanism of social exclusion felt by elderly people during high speed rail travel.Six main categories of social exclusion were identified,including economic exclusion,service exclusion,facility exclusion,process exclusion,digital exclusion,and subjective exclusion,and the reasons for social exclusion were classified as income limitations,experience limitations,education limitations,health limitations,and age limitations.Furthermore,the paper constructed a theoretical model of the influence mechanism of social exclusion against elderly people during high speed rail travel.Finally,it proposed suggestions for improving the aging-friendly products and services of high speed railway,which has certain reference significance for the operation and services of high speed railway to adapt to an aging society.关键词
