Abstract

In order to promote the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin,it is crucial to master the water and sediment characteristics before and after the construction of water conservancy and hydropower projects in the Yellow River Basin.Based on the wa-ter and sediment data of the Tangnaihai Station upstream of the Longyangxia Reservoir and the Guide Station downstream,this paper uses the Mann-Kendall test method,the moving average difference detection method and the wavelet analysis method to study the influence of the operation of the Longyangxia Reservoir on the water and sediment characteristics at the Guide Station in the lower reaches.The results show that the annual average flow at the Guide Station in the lower reaches showed an increasing trend before 1987 and a decreasing trend after that,with the mutation point in 1986,and the main oscillation period was 22 years;the sediment transport showed an increasing trend before 1990 and a decreasing trend after that,with the main oscillation period being 28 years.The construction and operation of the Longyangxia Reservoir have reduced the annual average flow in the lower reaches and significantly decreased the annual sediment transport in the lower reaches.Overall,the establishment of the Longyangxia Reservoir is beneficial to the soil and water conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and helps to stabilize the flow and sediment transport downstream of the reservoir area.By comparing the in-fluence of the Longyangxia Reservoir on the changes in sediment and water flow in the lower reaches,it is found that sediment is more af-fected by the Longyangxia Reservoir with a lag compared to water flow.
