Effect of Community Walking Perception on Social Interaction Among the Elderly:Chain Mediating Role of Walking Satisfaction and Place Attachment

Abstract
[Objective]The purpose of this study is to explore the ways and means to promote social communication of the elderly with community walking environment as the carrier.[Method]Focusing on the perceptions of the elderly on walking,this paper analyzes the influencing factors to the willingness of the elderly to have social interaction and their interacting relationship using structural equation model based on the data from 950 questionnaires in Hangzhou,Zhejiang Province[Result]1)The elderly's walking perception,walking satisfaction and place attachment to the community walking environment have a direct and positive impact on their willingness to have social interaction;2)Walking perception can significantly positively affect the social interaction of the elderly through the chain mediating effect of walking satisfaction and place attachment;and 3)Place attachment can not only mediate the relationship between walking perception and social interaction,but can also convey the effect of walking satisfaction on social interaction to a large extent.[Conclusion]The communities suitable for walking can capably enable older residents to maintain the social resources that contribute to their social activities and physical and mental health.It is recommended:1)Pay attention to the maintenance and improvement of the walking environment in the pro-age community;2)Highlight pro-aging emotional design and social interaction in the community walking environment;3)Continuously explore and integrate the local or community culture to improve the elderly's attachment to their community.关键词
