Prevalence and Control of Peste des Petits Ruminant in Europe in 2024

Abstract
s:In July 2024,peste des petits ruminants(PPR)outbreak was firstly reported in Greece and Romania,respectively,where PPR free status was temporarily terminated by WOAH.Following the outbreak,phylogenic analysis was conducted based on the pathogen by European PPR Reference Laboratory who concluded that the outbreak was likely to have been caused through non-direct contact.The number of reported outbreaks rapidly increased within a short period of time,and effectively controlled through a series of control measures taken by EU,especially in protected zones and monitoring zones.Based on the above experience,the disease outbreaks were rapidly controlled with the key aid of sound legislation system,normalized monitoring of major animal diseases,financial support and common guidance to members for the prevention and control of animal diseases and the establishment of vaccine reserves.Here,the status of PPR outbreak and control measures taken in Europe were reviewed,with a view to providing a reference for the prevention and control of PPR in China.关键词
