Epidemiological Characteristics of Livestock Schistosomiasis Japonica and Prevention Strategies

Abstract
In order to identify the trend of schistosomiasis japonica,and subsequently to guide optimization of relevant prevention policies,the global epidemiological characteristics of schistosomiasis japonica were reviewed,and its status of prevalence in China was summarized.It was concluded that the prevalence of the disease was greatly reduced through effective implementation of comprehensive prevention measures,although potential risk of reoccurrence of the disease was still available.Based on the capacity for diagnosing schistosomiasis japonica,the need for on-site diagnostic strips and nucleic acid test under the new situation of"low level and low-intensity infection"in China was discussed.Meanwhile,in view of the practice of disease prevention in China,prevention strategies were proposed,such as strengthening monitoring and early warning,overcoming difficulties in prevention and control,prevention driven by detection,improving interdepartmental collaboration and capacity building,and increasing science popularization and education,expecting to support and guide future scientific prevention and control as well as final eradication of the disease.关键词
