On the Function and Enlightenment of Red Newspaper Propaganda Work in the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Area

Abstract
The Democratic Coalition Government of the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Area,which was formally established on November 1,1945 in Huaiyin,Jiangsu Province,was hailed as"a model for democratic construction throughout China"under the leadership of the Party.In the process of promoting democratic construction,the red newspapers in the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Area gave full play to the functions and roles of dissemination carriers,ideological education and cultural leadership.The communicative function of the red newspapers is reflected in:vigorously publicizing the struggle movement in the border area,raising the political awareness of the masses,comprehensively reporting on the War of Self-Defence,inspiring and motivating the people in the border area,truly reflecting the life of the masses in the border area,and shaping the emotional identity of the people.The function of ideological education is reflected in:enriching the spiritual life of the masses based on the localized narratives,distributing and radiating political thoughts throughout the border area,and strengthening the mobilization of ideology.The function of cultural leadership is reflected in:propagating democratic culture and the concept of the masses,rallying the consensus of groups of all strata,and constructing a new culture by combining theoretical propaganda and knowledge popularization.The red newspapers in the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Area reported the political and economic development of the border area,publicized the Party's experiences in leading the people to achieve liberation,disseminated the Party's policies and propositions,promoted the prosperity of the neo-populist revolutionary culture and the local culture of the border area,consolidated the ideological consensus of the people in the border area,and contributed to the winning the hearts and minds of the people.Sorting out the history of red newspapers in the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Area and summarizing the experience of red newspaper propaganda work in the revolutionary era will help provide a powerful reference for the new era in strengthening the function of the newspapers,magazines and media of the Party to do a better job in propaganda,ideological and cultural work,and to enhance innovation in concepts,means and grass-roots work.关键词
