The Influence of Childhood Emotional Abuse on the Severity of Social Anxiety Disorder Symptoms:The Mediation Effect of Susceptibility to Embarrassment and Fear of Negative Evaluation

Abstract
Objective:This article aims to explore the effect of childhood emotional abuse on the severity of symptoms in patients with social anxiety disorder(SAD),as well as the mediating role of susceptibility to embarrassment and fear of negative evaluation.Methods:Fifty-two patients who meet the diagnostic criteria for SADwere recruited,and finished the childhood trauma questionnaire,susceptibility to embarrassment scale,brief fear of negative evaluation scale,and Liebowitz social anxiety scale.Results:(1)There was significant positive correlation between childhood emotional abuse,SAD symp-tom severity,susceptibility to embarrassment,and fear of negative evaluation(r=0.26～0.75);(2)Bootstrap mediation effects analyses indicated a significant direct effect of childhood emotional abuse on SAD symptom severity(β=0.235,P＜0.05);(3)Between childhood emotional abuse and SAD symptom severity,susceptibility to embarrassment and fear of negative evalua-tion played mediating roles not only separately but also through a chain mediation.Conclusion:Childhood emotional abuse can influence social anxiety disorder symptom severity both directly and indirectly through the chain-mediated effects of embarrassment susceptibility and negative appraisal fear.关键词
