The Influence of Neuroticism on Hoarding Behavior of College Students:Moderated Mediating Effect

Abstract
Objective:To explore the effects of neurotic personality traits,intolerance of uncertainty,and sense of securi-ty on hoarding behavior.Methods:Chinese big five personality inventory brief version,saving inventory-revised,security questionnaire,intolerance of uncertainty scale were used to survey college students through online questionnaire,and a total of 322 valid questionnaires were collected.Results:(1)Intolerance of uncertainty played a partial mediating role in the re-lationship between neuroticism and hoarding behavior.(2)Sense of security moderated the second half of the mediation pro-cess.Specifically,compared with low sense of security,individuals with high sense of security had less effect on hoarding behavior due to intolerance of uncertainty.Conclusion:In college students,neuroticism can positively predict hoarding be-havior through intolerance of uncertainty.In comparison,for college students with high sense of security,intolerance of un-certainty has a smaller predictive effect on hoarding behavior.关键词
