Abstract

Objective:In order to explore the association between Confucian ethical spirituality and prosocial behavior among college students and the mediating role of self-esteem and empathy between them.Methods:This study selected 1995 college students who were surveyed with questionnaires,including the Confucian ethical spirituality scale,self-esteem scale,interpersonal reactivity index and prosocial tendency measurement scale.Results:The main findings were as follows:(1)Confucian ethical spirituality,self-esteem and empathy were significantly correlated with prosocial behavior among college students.(2)The association between Confucian ethical spirituality and prosocial behavior was partly medi-ated by self-esteem and empathy.In conclusion,among college students,Confucian ethical spirituality not only had a direct effect on prosocial behavior,but also influenced prosocial behavior by the chain mediating effect of self-esteem and empa-thy.Conclusion:These findings contribute to understanding the mechanisms underlying the association between Confu-cian ethical spirituality and prosocial behavior among college students,and have important implications for education aimed at positive psychological quality among college students.
