The Relationship between Intellectual Humility and Cooperative Tendencies among College Students:A Moderated Mediation Model

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship between intellectual humility and cooperative tendencies among college students,as well as the influence of empathy and gender on this relationship.Methods:A total of 1,439 college stu-dents completed the general intellectual humility scale,the interpersonal reactivity index-C,and the cooperative subscale of the cooperative and competitive personality tendency scale.Results:(1)The correlations among intellectual humility,empathy,and cooperative tendencies were statistically significant and positively correlated;(2)Intellectual humility signifi-cantly and positively predicted college students'cooperative tendencies,and empathy played a partial mediating role in the relationship between intellectual humility and cooperative tendencies;(3)The mediation model was moderated by gender.Specifically,gender moderated the effect of empathy on cooperative tendencies,with the impact being stronger in boys com-pared to that in girls.Conclusion:Intellectual humility not only directly influences the cooperative tendencies of college students but also indirectly affects cooperative tendencies through empathy.The impact of empathy on cooperative tenden-cies is stronger in boys than in girls.关键词
