The Response Inhibition Ability of Impulsive Violent Offenders Under Two Types of Anger Emotions

Abstract
Objective:To explore the effects of moral anger and personal anger emotions on the response inhibition abil-ity of impulsive violent offenders.Methods:Male violent offenders in a prison in Tianjin were selected as the experimental group,the male employees of the Logistics Department of a university in Tianjin and the employees of a bureau in Shangqiu City selected as the control group.Moral anger and personal anger were induced using the video-evoked method and an adapted version of the AIUG paradigm,and the subjects'response inhibition ability was examined using a dual-choice odd-ball task.Results:Response inhibition was significantly lower in the violent offender group under both moral anger mood(F=19.12,P＜0.001,η2=0.20)and personal anger mood(F=21.11,P＜0.001,η2=0.25),and there was no significant difference in response inhibition between the violent offender group and the control group under the moral anger mood(P=0.21).Re-sponse inhibition capacity was significantly lower in the violent offender group under personal anger mood than in the con-trol group(F=4.68,P＜0.05,η2=0.07).Conclusion:The response inhibition capacity of both control and impulsive violent offenders was impaired in both anger conditions.However,impulsive violent offenders had more impaired response inhibi-tion in the personal anger condition than controls.关键词
