Abstract
Sildenafil citrate,a selective phosphodiesterase-5(PDE5)inhibitor,has demonstrated good safety and efficacy in the treatment of erectile dysfunction(ED)since 1998.In recent years,the clinical application of sildenafil has been expanding,and it has been found that sildenafil can be used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension by relaxing pulmonary vascular smooth muscle and reducing pulmonary vascular resistance.In addition,it has been shown that sildenafil may be associated with the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease,improving brain function and reducing the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.With the deepening of research,sildenafil shows a broader prospect in clinical application,bringing hope and benefits to more patients.This article provides a brief overview of the clinical application of sildenafil.关键词
