Meta-analysis on Effects of Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules Combined with Ribavirin on Hand,Foot and Mouth Disease in Children

Abstract
Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules on hand,foot and mouth disease(HFMD)in children.Methods The randomized controlled trials(RCTs)for the treatment of HFMD with Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules combined with ribavirin(trial group)and ribavirin(control group)were retrieved from PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang Data and CBM databases from the establishment of the databases to February 17,2023.The primary outcomes were clinical effectiveness and incidence of adverse events,and secondary outcomes were time to fever resolution,time to rash resolution,time to ulcer healing,time to hospitalisation and other laboratory indicators.The risk of bias of the included studies was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool(ROB)and Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.2 software.Results A total of 1 758 children were included in 15 studies,886 cases in trial group and 872 in control group.Meta-analysis results showed that on the basis of treating HFMD with ribavirin,the addition of Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules could improve the clinical effective rate of children[OR=3.96,95%CI(2.79,5.62),P<0.001].There was no difference in the adverse effects between the trial group and control groups[OR=0.43,95%CI(0.10,1.79),P=0.25].Conclusion Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules have good efficacy and no significant adverse effects with children with HFMD.However,limited by the number and quality of included studies,more high-quality RCTs are needed to validate the efficacy and safety of Xiao'er Chiqiao Qingre Granules in the treatment of HFMD.关键词
