摘要

Abstract

Phosphates removal from wastewater is a critical approach for controlling eutrophication in water bodies.Among various phosphate removal technologies,adsorption stand out due to their advantages of simple design,ease of operation,and low cost.Zirconium has become a promising adsorbent for phosphorus removal due to its excellent phosphate binding ability through Lewis acid-base interaction and endospheric complexation,easy regeneration under alkaline conditions,good environmental compatibility,low solubility in a wide pH range,and good oxidation resistance.At present,there have been a lot of studies on modifying zirconium adsorption materials to enhance their phosphate adsorption properties.Herein,the recent research progress on zirconium-modified adsorbents for removing phosphates from aquatic environments was systematically summarized,and a variety of adsorbents such as zirconium oxides/hydroxides,zirconium-based metal oxide materials,zirconium-containing carbonaceous materials,zirconium-based metal-organic framework(MOF)materials,as well as zirconium-modified clay materials were reviewed.The phosphate adsorption capacity of these adsorbents,key factors influencing their adsorption efficiency,and the underlying adsorption mechanisms were discussed in detail.In future studies,the stability and potential risks of zirconium-modified composite adsorbents under complex conditions,as well as their ability to efficiently separate and regenerate,should be considered.
