Simulation of Arc Characteristics in Plasma Cable-Wire MIG Composite Welding

Abstract
Based on the theory of magnetohydrodynamics,a mathematical and physical model of the three-dimensional plasma-cable type welding wire MIG hybrid welding arc was established.With the help of Fluent user-defined function pro-gramming,the thermal field,flow field,and electromagnetic field of the composite arc were coupled and solved,and the characteristic laws of the thermal field and flow field of the plasma cable MIG composite welding arc were obtained.The re-sults indicate that PAW arc and cable MIG arc are inclined and attracted to each other,and the coupling effect is good.The maximum temperature of the composite arc is 18500K,and the temperature in the two arc composite area is above 10000K.The high temperature zone is more widely distributed,and the effective heating radius of the workpiece is larger.This veri-fies the advantages of PAW+cable MIG composite arc welding,such as a wide heating range and high melting efficiency.At the same time,a composite area with an arc pressure of about 80Pa was formed between the two arcs;And the velocity cloud map of the PAW+cable MIG composite arc shows a discontinuous phenomenon where the cable MIG arc is blown and com-pressed by the PAW arc.关键词
