Clinical observation of type A botulinum toxin combined with mecobalamine in treatment of trigeminal neuralgia

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of botulinum toxin type A combined with mecobalamin in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia,and explore its effect on the psychological mood.Methods Forty patients with trigeminal neuralgia admitted to Xuzhou Central Hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were included as the observation objects,and were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,with 20 cases in each group.The control group was treated with type A botulinum toxin injection,and the observation group was treated by type A botulinum toxin combined with mecobalamin.The effects of the two groups were observed after 2,4 and 12 weeks of treatment.The visual analogue scale(VAS)was used after treatment,and the effective rate was compared.Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)were used to evaluate the patients'anxiety and sleep at the 12th week after treatment.Results There was no significant difference on VAS score between the observation group and the control group before treatment(P＞0.05),at 2,4 and 12 weeks after treatment,the VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05).VAS score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The change trend of VAS score between the two groups also had statistical different(P＜0.05).The effective rates of the observation group at 2,4 and 12 weeks after treatment were higher than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment,HAMA and PSQI scores decreased in both groups(P＜0.05).Compared with those before treatment,these changes were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The HAMA and PSQI scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group at 12 weeks after treatment,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Botulinum toxin type A combined with mecobalamin has positive clinical effect in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia,which can reduce the anxiety and sleep,and improve the psychological mood.关键词
