Abstract

This study explored the seed germination characteristics of Rumex patientia L.×Rumex tianschanicus A.Los,aiming to screen out the suitable germination conditions.We investigated the effects of seed soaking temperature,sulphuric acid soaking time,gibberellin concentration,ambient temperature,degree of drought,and seed peeling degree and method on the seed germination,which was comprehensively evaluated based on seed germination rate,germination potential,and germination index.The results showed that ambient temperature and drought were the main factors affecting the germination,and the optimum germination temperature was 25℃.Seed soaking in 25%PEG-6000 solution reduced the germination rate(P<0.01),while seed soaking in 45℃warm water increased the germination rate.The seeds have thin seed coats and do not require additional physical or chemical treatment for peeling.According to the results,we suggest that ambient temperature and moisture condition should be primarily considered in the sowing of R.patientia L.×R.tianschanicus A.Los,followed by seed soaking temperature.
