Analysis on the location and nature of exogenous cold disease with Shaoyang syndrome
摘要
Abstract
The etiology,location,and nature of Shaoyang syndrome have unique theoretical connotations in traditional Chinese medicine.This study is aimed at systematically exploring its core characteristics by integrating the theories in the Shanghan Lun(Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases)with the discussions of later medical experts.Its location is assumed to be a relative concept,which can be categorized both as a superficies syndrome and an interior syndrome,depending on its relationships with those sites of other syndromes as it is located between Taiyang channel and Yangming channel.From the perspective of disease transmission,Shaoyang channel acts both as the pivot of the three yang channels and is situated at the crossroads between yin channels and yang channels,constituting a special pathological space for the dysfunction of Shaoyang channel,affecting the smooth movement of qi.In terms of pathological characteristics,Shaoyang disease presents a compound feature of both a yin syndrome and a yang syndrome:pathogenic and positive factors are locked in a stalemate to form a state of intermingled deficiency and excess,while the mixed cold and heat syndrome embodies yin and yang disharmony,and the abnormal movement of qi and blood is prominently manifested as the dual pathogeneses of"qi stagnation and fire amassment"and"deficient blood and depleted qi".Through the analysis of prescriptions,it is found that the pathogenic characteristics of Xiaochaihu Tang,which is targeted at the struggle of positive and pathogenic factors and the stagnated pivotal qi movement,confirm the core pathogenesis of Shaoyang syndrome,which is characterized by increasingly abnormal stagnation.The characteristics of Shaoyang disease can be summarized as follows:its location between the superficies and interior as a pivot of qi flow,its complex nature of intermingled deficiency and excess,cold and heat,and its pathological essence of qi movement disorders.Shaoyang syndrome should be treated by following the principles of promoting qi movement,regulating cold and heat,and strengthening the body resistance and eliminating pathogens.关键词
