Soil erodibility and its influencing factors of erosion gully banks under different land use types in the typical black soil region of Northeast China

Abstract
[Objective]To investigate the erodibility of soils on the banks of erosion gullies developed under different land uses in the typical black soil region,and to identify the key influencing factors and their mechanisms.The findings are intended to provide a scientific basis for soil and water conservation in black soil regions.[Methods]Erosion gullies developed on farmland,woodland,and grassland in the typical black soil region were selected as the study sites.A combination of field sampling and laboratory testing methods was employed to collect soil and root samples from soils layers of 0-30 cm,30-60 cm,60-100 cm,100-150 cm,and 150-200 cm along the banks of the erosion gullies.The physical and chemical properties of the soil,root biomass density(RBD),and soil erodibility parameters were determined.These parameters included the soil erodibility factor K,the content of water stable aggregates>0.25 mm(WSA>0.25),disintegration rate(SDR),and shear strength(τf).[Results]The RBD on the erosion gully banks was primarily concentrated in the 0-30 cm soil layer,and RBD significantly decreased with increasing soil depth.The RBD in the forest gully was 2.56 times and 5.75 times higher than that in the grassland gully and the farmland gully,respectively.The soil bulk density(SBD)and saturated hydraulic conductivity(SHC)were in the order of farmland gully>woodland gully>grassland gully,with water content(SWC)showing opposite trend.The contents of soil organic carbon(SOC),total nitrogen(TN)and total phosphorus(TP)of grassland gully were 1.87,2.20 and 1.33 times higher than those of woodland gully,and 2.01,1.65 and 1.08 times higher than those of farmland gully,respectively.SBD and SHC increased with increasing soil layer,while SWC,SOC,TN and TP decreased with increasing soil layer.The K and τf of farmland gully>woodland gully>grassland gully,showing a trend of increasing with the soil depth,while WSA>0.25 was completely opposite.The SDR of farmland gully>grassland gully>woodland gully,and increased with the soil depth.Correlation analysis results showed that SBD,SWC,SHC,silt content,SOC,TN,TP and RBD had significant effects on soil erodibility parameters.Redundancy analysis further showed that SOC explained 46.1%of the variation in soil erodibility,making it the most significant factor,followed by Silt(11.5%)>RBD(6.0%)>SHC(5.5%)>SWC(2.6%)>TP(2.4%)>SBD(1.4%).[Conclusion]Soil erodibility of gully banks is controlled by factors such as vegetation type,soil organic matter content,and soil texture.Increased vegetation cover significantly reduces soil erodibility by enhancing organic matter content and optimizing soil texture.关键词
