Study on disease cognition and experience of PCOS patients based on qualitative interview and drawing
摘要
Abstract
Objective:To explore the disease cognition and experience of PCOS patients, and to provide a reference for the development of targeted intervention strategies. Methods:An objective sampling method was used to select 13 PCOS patients who were treated at the gynecological outpatient department of Peking Union Hospital from March to June 2024.Data were collected through one-to-half structured interview and patient participatory painting, and data were analyzed by key visual analysis and the thematic analysis. Results:The average age of the 13 PCOS patients was(27.23±6.04)years old, body mass index(BMI)was 18.34-40.66 kg/m2,61.54%(8/13)of the patients underwent less than 2 years of treatment duration,46.15%(6/13)were married, and most of them had college educational level[84.62%(11/13)].Based on the visual and interview data analysis,12 categories were obtained, and 4 descriptive themes of explicit and invisible symptom experience, negative psychological experience, difficult treatment process, and negative and positive coping were extracted. Conclusions:Painting as a powerful assistant to traditional data collection methods, provides a new perspective and method for the study of disease cognition and experience in PCOS patients.Medical staff can deepen their understanding of PCOS patients'diagnosis and treatment needs through qualitative research combined with patient participatory painting, and at the same time provide patients with opportunities to reflect on their personal experiences. It is of great significance to improve patients'self-disease management, treatment outcomes and quality of life.关键词
