Time,Space and Structure:Three Kinds of Narrative Strategies in Nanke
摘要
Abstract
Nanke(The Southern Branch)is based on Account of the Governor of Nanke.While inheriting the basic plot of the original work,Tang Xianzu uses a variety of narrative strategies to rewrite it.Nanke uses the dream narrative of the original work to make a sharp contrast between a vivid dream and fleeting reality,conveying the metaphor of life like a dream.When Tang Xianzu deals with the story time and text time,he also adopts the methods of pause,parallel narrative,omission and summary to make the narration more appropriate.At the same time,there are multiple narrative Spaces in Nanke.The real space,such as the deserted court and the temple,suggests the psychology of the characters and the direction of the story.The surreal spaces such as ant kingdom and heaven come from reality and promote the development of the plot.The presentation and switching of space bring the audience a novel experience of acceptance.In addition to the time-space strategy,Nanke also has a variety of narrative structures.The interaction of Chunyu Fen,Huai An,Qi Xuan and these three clues,as well as the nested pattern between the protagonist Huai An's dream and Buddhism,not only enhances the plot richness,but also deepens the story connotation.关键词
