Abstract

The principle of machine vision inspection for slab head and tail warping value in roughing stage of a 2 250 mm hot rolling line is analyzed in this paper,and an improved vision inspection method based on laser curves is proposed for the insufficiency of the upper edge inspection method,which is susceptible to the shape defects at the head and tail of the slab and leads to the degradation of the measurement accuracy.In this method,two green laser lines are used as structural light sources,and projected onto the width centerline of the target slab surface and two reference lines perpendicular to the centerline.The end image of the target slab is captured by the CCD camera,and the discrete points of the center laser line are extracted to fit the end warping curve of the target slab.The"extinction point"of the end image is determined according to the parallel reference laser line set,and the maximum warping value of the end of the target slab is calculated.The test results show that the improved detection algorithm can effectively avoid the interference of the shape defects at the head and tail of the slab,and the detection error is less than 5%,which lays a foundation for industrial applications.
