Abstract

Based on the project of a new section tunnel which was designed for the capacity expansion and project up-grading of Beijing Metro Line 13 to pass through the Gaoliang ancient bridge underneath,the current environmental vibra-tion of the bridge was tested and analyzed.A three-dimensional finite element(FE)model of tunnel-soil-bridge was estab-lished to predict the vibration induced by metro operation.The vibration superposition of metro trains and road traffic effects were considered.The measured results indicate that the first three natural frequencies of Gaoliang bridge are 9.5,10.1 and 10.7 Hz respectively.The peak particle velocity(PPV)under the current traffic environment is below the guideline limit of 0.20 mm/s,which means that the current traffic environment vibration has no influence on the safety and integrity of the bridge.The calculation results show that the influence of superposition effect causes the largest vibration responses,i.e.a PPV of 0.141 mm/s.After superimposing the current road traffic vibration,the PPV is 0.137 mm/s,below the guideline limit of 0.20 mm/s,which indicates that the vibration response caused by complex traffic loads after the opening of new metro lines in the future will not affect the safety and integrity of the ancient bridge.
