Abstract

Taking a 6.45 MW offshore wind turbine(OWT)as the prototype,a test-model with the similarity ratio of 1:15 was designed.Then the dynamic characteristic of the tower was tested.A tuned liquid damper(TLD)was set on the top of the nacelle to analyze and evaluate its damping performance.The results show that when the external excitation frequency is close to the tower first-order fundamental frequency,the maximum value of the tower acceleration response appears at the tower top;and when the external excitation frequency is close to the second-order frequency,the maximum value of the ac-celeration response appears at the 2/3 position of the tower.The tower acceleration response is greatly affected by the exter-nal excitation spectrum characteristics.The displacement response is controlled by the first-order fundamental frequency,and the maximum displacement occurs at the tower top.When the harmonic excitation is input at the bottom of the tower,the damping effect of the TLD is obvious,the damping ratio of the tower vibration response is 50%,the amplitude of vibration time-domain is reduced,and the spectral peak value at the fundamental frequency is obviously eliminated.Due to the charac-teristics of short duration and sudden intensity time of the seismic excitation,the shaking of TLD has time delay,so the vibra-tion reduction effect of peak response amplitude is poor.While the damping ratio of standard deviation of vibration response exceeds 30%,and the response amplitude attenuation effect is significant.The results of this study can provide a useful refer-ence for the vibration reduction design of OWT.
