Abstract

Revolutionary sites are part of red cultural heritages,most of which are located in historic districts of cities and towns.The protection and application of revolutionary sites are important contents of old city reconstruction,smart renovation of historic districts,and development of smart cities.This paper studied the digital protection of the revolutionary sites in Luliang,Linfen,Jincheng,and Shuozhou of Shanxi Province.Through the previous field investigations,the preservation,surrounding environment,and utilization situation of the revolutionary sites in the four cities were clarified,and the contradiction between the protection of revolutionary sites and historic districts and the old city reconstruction was studied.Then,the paper introduced the application of technologies in digital surveying and mapping and filing of revolutionary sites,such as three-dimensional(3D)laser scanning,unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)oblique photography,high-definition digital photography,and computer-aided drawing.The paper explored the integration of the results of digital surveying and mapping of the revolutionary sites with virtual reality(VR)technology,building information modeling(BIM)technology,and mobile internet technology in assisting in the monitoring,display,and effective utilization of the sites.Finally,the paper analyzed the special role of digital protection results of revolutionary sites in the smart renovation of historic districts.
