Effects of Anthocyanins on Performance,Egg Quality,Immune Function,Antioxidant Capacity and Intestinal Tissue Morphology of Taihang Chickens

Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of dietary anthocyanins supplementation on performance,egg quality,immune function,antioxidant capacity and intestinal tissue morphology of Taihang chickens.A total of 400 healthy Taihang chickens with similar body weight and similar performance in the late laying stage(50 weeks of age)were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups,with 10 replicates as a group and 10 chickens as a replicate.Chickens in control group were fed a basal diet(no anthocyanins add-ed),and those in experimental groupsⅠ,ⅡandⅢwere fed diets with 50,100 and 150 mg/kg of anthocya-nins,respectively.The preliminary trial period was 1 week,and the formal trial period was 12 weeks.The re-sults showed that:1)compared with the control group,feeding diet supplemented with 150 mg/kg of anthocy-anins could significantly increase the laying rate of Taihang chickens(P<0.05),and significantly reduce the feed-to-egg ratio(P<0.05).2)Compared with the control group,feeding diets supplemented with 50 to 150 mg/kg of anthocyanins could significantly increase the anthocyanins content in eggs of Taihang chickens(P<0.05).3)Compared with the control group,feeding diets supplemented with 50 to 150 mg/kg of antho-cyanins could significantly increase the albumin and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol contents in the plasma of Taihang chickens(P<0.05),and significantly decrease the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol content(P<0.05);feeding diet supplemented with 150 mg/kg of anthocyanins could significantly the total protein and total cholesterol contents in the plasma of Taihang chickens(P<0.05).4)Compared with the control group,feed-ing diet supplemented with 150 mg/kg of anthocyanins could significantly increase the total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),catalase(CAT)activities and immunoglobulin A(IgA)con-tent in the plasma of Taihang chickens(P<0.05).5)Compared with the control group,feeding diets supple-mented with 50 to 150 mg/kg anthocyanins could significantly decrease the crypt depth of the duodenum,ile-um and jejunum of Taihang chickens(P<0.05),and significantly increase the ratio of villus height to crypt depth of the ileum and jejunum(P<0.05).To sum up,adding anthocyanins to the diet can improve the per-formance of Taihang chickens,increase the content of anthocyanins in eggs,enhance the nutritional value of eggs,and it also can improve the antioxidant capacity,enhance the immune function,and ensure the intestinal health of Taihang chickens.It is recommended that the anthocyanins addition level in Taihang chickens'diet is 150 mg/kg under this experimental condition.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2025,37(3):1727-1737]关键词
