Effects of Diet Supplemented with Zinc Methionine on Growth Performance,Serum Biochemical Indices,Antioxidant Capacity and Intestinal Health of Broiler Chickens

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of diet supplemented with different levels of zinc methionine on growth performance,serum biochemical indices,antioxidant capacity and intestinal health of broiler chickens.A total of 250 one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens with similar body weight were randomly divided into 5 groups with 5 replicates per group and 10 broilers per replicate.Each group was sup-plemented with zinc in the form of methionine zinc on the basis of basal diet with the amounts of 0(control group),20,40,60 and 80 mg/kg,respectively.The experiment lasted for 21 days.The results showed as follows:1)compared with the control group,dietary supplementation of 60 and 80 mg/kg zinc methionine ex-tremely significantly increased the average daily gain of broilers at 14 days of age(P<0.01),and supplemen-tation of 20,40,60 and 80 mg/kg zinc methionine extremely significantly decreased the average daily feed in-take and the ratio of feed to gain of broiler chickens at 14 days of age(P<0.05);2)compared with the con-trol group,dietary supplementation of 60 and 80 mg/kg zinc methionine significantly increased the total super-oxide dismutase(T-SOD)activity in serum of broiler chickens at 21 days of age(P<0.05),and supplementa-tion of 80 mg/kg zinc methionine significantly decreased the malondialdehyde(MDA)content(P<0.05);3)compared with the control group,dietary supplementation of 80 mg/kg zinc methionine significantly increased the mRNA relative expression level of tight junction protein Claudin-1 in jejunal mucosa of broiler chickens(P<0.05),and supplementation of 40,60 and 80 mg/kg zinc methionine significantly decreased the mRNA relative expression level of inflammatory factor tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)(P<0.05).In summary,diet supplemented with 40 to 80 mg/kg zinc methionine can improve the growth performance,antioxidant capacity and intestinal mucosal barrier function of broiler chickens in different degrees.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nu-trition,2025,37(3):1760-1770]关键词
