Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary compound prebiotic composition on growth performance,nutrient apparent digestibility,immune function,antioxidant capacity,hair health and intestinal microflora of cats.Sixteen healthy British shorthair cats with similar body weight and age were ran-domly divided into 2 groups with 8 cats in each group(single cage feeding).Cats in the control group were fed a basal diet,and those in the experimental group were fed the basal diet supplemented with compound prebiotic composition(composed of Bacillus coagulans,dietary fiber from various sources and ω-3 and ω-6 unsaturated fatty acids at a ratio of 1∶3),which contained 2×107 CFU Bacillus coagulans,1.15 g dietary fiber and 4 g un-saturated fatty acids per 100 g of diet.The pre-trial period was 2 weeks and the trial period was 6 weeks.The results showed as follows:1)compared with the control group,there were no significant differences in daily feed intake,fecal score,fecal pH and body weight of cats in the experimental group(P>0.05).2)Compared with the control group,there were no significant differences in nutrient apparent digestibility,blood routine in-dices and serum biochemical indices of cats in the experimental group(P>0.05).3)Compared with the con-trol group,the serum immunoglobulin M(IgM)content and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity of cats in the experimental group were significantly increased(P<0.05).4)Compared with the control group,the hair score of cats in the experimental group showed an increasing trend(P=0.078).5)Compared with the control group,there was no significant difference in intestinal microflora α diversity indices of cats in the experimental group(P>0.05),but the number of unique intestinal microflora was increased.Compared with the control group,at the phylum level,the Proteobacteria relative abundance in the experimental group was significantly increased(P<0.05);at the genus level,the Catenibacterium relative abundance in the experimental group showed an increasing trend(P=0.081).In conclusion,dietary compound prebiotic composition can increase the serum IgM content and SOD activity of cats,and improve intestinal microflora structure and hair score,which has a positive effect on improving the overall health status of cats.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutri-tion,2025,37(3):1982-1990]关键词
