The Multiple Attributes of Country and Region Studies and the Way Forward for Central and Eastern European Studies

Abstract
Country and Region Studies(CRS)are in the ascendant.How to understand and construct CRS with Chinese characteristics is a hot topic in Chinese academic circles.Central and Eastern European studies have a long history.How to standardize and promote Central and Eastern European studies within the framework of CRS is a new issue encountered by the Chinese academic circles.CRS are not only based on humanities,social sciences and natural sciences,but also differ from the above-mentioned traditional disciplines,with multiple attributes as its main characteristics.The multiple attributes of CRS are mainly reflected as follows:"others,""self"and a community with a shared future for mankind in the perspective and standpoint of research;countries,sub-regions and regions in the research objects;particularity,universality and comprehensiveness in research content;and its multidisciplinary,interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary nature.As a part of CRS,Central and Eastern European studies both reflect the way forward due to the requirements of multiple attributes as follows:to understand Central and Eastern Europe from the perspective of the region itself;to analyze it from our stance and to research it from the standpoint of a community with a shared future for mankind;to pay attention to the definition of the sub-regions and regions and to advance the studies of countries,sub-regions and regions at the same time;to strengthen Central and Eastern Europe as well as to the general pattern and theoretical innovation;and to promote the formation of cross-disciplines on the basis of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research.关键词
