Abstract

Objective To explore the effectiveness of the"5E"teaching method combined with mini-clinical evaluation exercise(Mini-CEX)in clinical practice for nursing undergraduates.Methods A total of 28 nursing undergraduates from who underwent clinical practice in the cardiology department of Jiangnan University affiliated hospital from September to October 2022 were as assigned to the control group,and 25 nursing undergraduates who underwent clinical practice nursing in the same department between September and October 2023 were as assigned to the intervention group.The control group received traditional teaching method,while the intervention group recevied"5E"teaching method combined with Mini-CEX,self-learning ability,classroom atmosphere and comprehensive scores were compared between the two groups.Results After the teaching,the scores of self-learning ability(82.08±7.90),classroom atmosphere(106.04±11.48)and comprehensive(93.60±1.32)in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group(71.68±7.67),(98.14±10.39),(92.08±2.30)(all P<0.05).Conclusions The"5E"teaching method combined with Mini-CEX can enrich the form of clinical practice teaching and deepen the reform of nursing education,which is beneficial to improve the self-learning capacity of nursing students,classroom engagement and academic performance.
