Reviews of Nutritional Regulation of Obesity in Dogs and Cats
摘要
Abstract
Obesity is a nutritional and metabolic disorder caused by an energy imbalance and an excess storage of fat due to the long-term intake of higher energy than the consumption of energy.Obesity can have serious adverse effects on the health of dogs and cats and result in a decline in their quality of life.In recent years,the number of dogs and cats raised as pets has been continuously increasing.Influenced by the limited activity space in urban households and the bad feeding habits of pet owners,the prevalence of obesity in dogs and cats keeps rising.Researches have revealed that scientific and reasonable nutritional strategies are conducive to the health and quality of life of pets with obesity.This review summarizes the current knowledge of obesity in dogs and cats and the latest research advances in nutritional regulation,aiming to provide references for preventing and improving obesity in dogs and cats.关键词
