Abstract

Objective To explore the influence mechanism of different gender role types on adolescent mental health,and to provide support for cultivating adolescent androgyny personality.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 264 adolescents in Changsha using the Bem Gender Role Inventory(BSRI)and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire(SDQ),and the data was statistically analyzed.Results The proportion of androgyny among adolescents was as high as 69.3%.In terms of mental health,48.8%of adolescents were troubled by peer communication.Adolescents'gender role types were positively correlated with prosocial behavior and family rearing patterns(P<0.05),and negatively correlated with emotional symptoms,conduct,hyperactivity and peer interaction(P<0.05).The mental health level of adolescents with democratic family rearing style was significantly higher than that of authoritative,doting and stocking type.The mental health level of androgyny type teenagers was significantly higher than that of masculinity and femininity,and feminization type teenagers showed obvious advantages in conduct and peer communication.Conclusion Most adolescents had androgynous personality,and their mental health level was generally at a normal level.It was necessary to pay more attention to the adolescent groups with undifferentiated personality and helped them shape a sound personality.
