Abstract

In order to explore the fundamental theories behind the evaporation process of ethanol-methyl oleate biodiesel blended fuel,a droplet evaporation experiment based on thermocouple hanging-drop technology was adopted.The evaporation and micro-explosion characteristics of ethanol and methyl oleate blended fuel were investigated under different fuel ratios and the addition of alumina oxide nanoparticles.The effects of ethanol addition amount of 0,20%,and 40%and the presence of nanoparticles on parameters such as the normalized square diameter of fuel droplets,micro-explosion intensity,frequency of micro-explosions,droplet evaporation time,and evaporation rate were analyzed at a temperature of 723 K.The results showed that the evaporation process of ethanol-methyl oleate blended fuel droplets at 723 K could be mainly divided into the droplet expansion stage,the slow evaporation stage,and the rapid evaporation stage.As the ethanol content increased from 0 to 40%,the evaporation of the ethanol-methyl oleate blended fuel was inhibited.Moreover,the droplet expansion and continuous micro-explosion phenomena were more pronounced during the early stage of evaporation.Additionally,for the ethanol-methyl oleate blended fuel(Ex-0.5%Al2O3)doped with alumina nanoparticles at 723 K,the higher ethanol content,the larger the maximum relative diameter of droplets during micro-explosion and the higher average evaporation rate of the droplets.The relative diameter of E00-0.5%Al2O3、E20-0.5%Al2O3 and E40-0.5%Al2O3 were 1.21、1.61 and 2.86,and the average evaporation rates were 0.114,0.260 and 0.350 mm2/s,respectively.
