Prospecting Thoughts on New Horizon and Sector of Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits in the Southwestern Margin of Yili Basin

Abstract
In order to find the new horizon and sector in the prospecting of sandstone type uranium deposits in the southern margin of Yili Basin and provide important support for the next step uranium exploration in Yili Basin,the metallogenic potential of Xiaoquangou group of Triassic,Badaowan Formation of Lower Jurassic and Toutunhe Formation of Middle Jurassic were systematically studied in the key ore controlling factors such as lithology and lithofacies,interlayer oxidation zone,geochemical barrier in the southern margin of Yili Basin by the investigatin and evaluating uranium deposits discovered in recent years.The result showed that the Xiaoquangou Group had some metallogenic potential in the western part of the southern margin of the basin,and the profitable uranium ore body in Xiaoquangou Group was predicted to the east of exploration line No.13 in Kujieertai area;the Badaowan Formation developed interlayer oxidation zone and uranium mineralization in Sudongbulake-Wukuerqi area,uranium mineralization has been exposed in three exploration lines in Wukuerqi area,there are also important prospecting clues for further exploration and verification at the turning point of the interlayer oxidation zone to the west of exploration line No.12 in Kujieertai area and exploration line No.101 in Sudongbulake area;the Toutunhe Formation developed interlayer oxidation zone and economic uranium mineralization to the east of honghaigou deposit,showing good formation mineral potentiall.The next exploration work was suggested in the sand body of distributary channel with mineralization information at appropriate hole depth in Wukuerqi-Sudongbulake area.The new horizon and sector in the southern margin of Yili Basin was believed with great potential for ore prospecting,which is important in the target substitute of Shuixigou Group and prospecting orientation for Yili Basin.关键词
