Abstract
In order to elucidate the epidemiological patterns of canine diseases in the Nanchong region and to implement precise prevention and control measures,a descriptive epidemiological statistical analysis was conducted on the medical records of 5 413 dogs over a 43-month period at two major pet hospitals in Nanchong city. This study was supplemented with telephone surveys. The findings revealed that diseased dogs were distributed across various districts and counties within Nanchong, with the highest proportion in Shunqing District.Among the 15 categories of diseases affecting dogs, gastrointestinal diseases, skin diseases, parasitic diseases, and respiratory diseases were the most prevalent, accounting for 57.42%of all cases.Gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases were more common in spring, while skin and parasitic diseases peaked in summer.Puppies were at the highest risk of disease, particularly gastrointestinal diseases. The top 10 dog breeds with the highest disease incidence included Poodles,Chinese Rural Dogs,Bichon Frises,Pomeranians,Corgis,Golden Retrievers,Labrador Retrievers,Border Collies,Schnauzers, and Bulldogs.Sterilization, regular vaccination, and deworming were found to be effective in reducing disease occurrence. These results indicate that targeted prevention and control measures based on breed, age, and season can effectively prevent the spread of related diseases and ensure public health safety.关键词
