Vertical Distribution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Soil Organic Carbon in the Temperate Steppe Soil of the Loess Hilly Region

Abstract
To thoroughly investigate the vertical distribution characteristics of soil organic carbon(SOC)and the key factors influencing it in the temperate steppe of the loess hilly region,this study focused on the temperate steppe within the loess hilly region.The SOC content was measured in the 0-100 cm soil profile,and correlation and redundancy analysis were conducted to reveal the impact of soil factors on SOC content.The results showed that there were signifi-cant differences in the content and density of SOC in different soil layers of the temperate steppe in the loess hilly re-gion,with ranges of 8.92-31.44 g/kg and 1 234.21-3 350.34 g/m2,respectively.The SOC content exhibited a decreasing trend with increasing soil depth,indicating an enrichment at the surface.Correlation analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between SOC content and soil bulk density as well as inorganic carbon content(P<0.001),while a significant positive correlation was observed between SOC content and the content of total soil carbon,nitrogen,and potassium(P<0.001).The results of redundancy analyses showed that the main influencing factor causing the diffe-rences in SOC content in loess hilly region is soil total carbon.关键词
