Efficacy of Xiyanping injection combined with methylprednisolone in the treatment of lobar pneumonia in children and its impact on inflammatory responses

Abstract
AIM To investigate the efficacy of Xiyanping injection combined with methylprednisolone in the treatment of lobar pneumonia in children and its impact on inflammatory responses.METHODS A total of 80 children with lobar pneumonia treated in the hospital from July 2019 to April 2023 were randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 40 patients in each group.Children with lobar pneumonia in the control group were treated with methylprednisolone,while those in the observation group were treated with Xiyanping injection in addition to methylprednisolone.The fever disappearance time,rale disappearance time,cough relief time,lung shadow absorption time,hospital stay,lung function[forced lung capacity(FVC),maximum expiratory flow(MEF),and forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1)],inflammatory cytokines[interleukin 10(IL-10),interleukin 8(IL-8),and tumor necrosis factor-αlpha(TNF-α)]and adverse reactions were compared between 2 groups of children with lobular pneumonia.The clinical efficacy after treatment in both groups was assessed.RESULTS The observation group demonstrated a significantly higher overall efficacy rate than the control group(97.50％vs 85.00％,P＜0.05).The fever disappearance time,rale disappearance time,cough relief time,lung shadow absorption time and hospital stay of children with lobular pneumonia in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,FVC,MEF and FEV,levels in children with lobar pneumonia increased in both groups compared to prior treatment,and these levels in the observation group were higher than in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the serum levels of IL-10,IL-8 and TNF-α in children with lobar pneumonia in 2 groups were lower than prior treatment,and these levels in the observation group were lower than in those the control group(P＜0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions such as dizziness,nausea,vomiting and loss of appetite in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(5.00％vs 22.50％,P＜0.05).CONCLUSION Xiyanping injection combined with methylprednone in the treatment of children with lobar pneumonia is effective,can quickly improve the clinical symptoms of children with lobar pneumonia,improve lung function and inhibit inflammation,can reduce the incidence of adverse reactions,worthy of clinical promotion and application.关键词
