Intercultural teaching in Selected Readings of English Newspapers and Magazines based on ESA teaching model

Abstract
Conducting intercultural teaching in universities of Chinese medicine in the course Selected Readings of English Newspapers and Magazines not only helps the students grasp cultural information in English,but also improves the cross-cultural and communication ability and the ability to disseminate Chinese medicine culture to the world.The Engage-Study-Activate(ESA)teaching model is applied with well-chosen English news on Chinese medicine to conduct intercultural teaching.With focus on the cognitive understanding,emotional attitude and behavioral skill,it will enable an appropriate introduction on intercultural knowledge,handling the text in an intercultural way,conducting teaching assessment,and so on.It is proposed that the ESA model can be flexibly applied in English courses for the purpose of intercultural teaching to dig out the intercultural knowledge and design purpose-oriented evaluation.With teachers provided with further teaching support and students with cross-cultural practice,the intercultural teaching would be further enhanced.关键词
