Constructing an admissions assessment question bank for international students in traditional Chinese medicine based on Item Response Theory approach

Abstract
This research utilizes Item Response Theory(IRT)to establish a theoretical and methodological foundation for formulating an admission question bank tailored for international students in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Taking into account the present curriculum TCM benchmarks,as well as addressing the deficiencies the prevailing application procedures,it highlights the imperative of devising an IRT-based assessment question bank.The envisaged question bank is designed to encompass two critical domains:academic foundational knowledge and cultural literacy.It advocates for the amalgamation of diverse expertise and knowledge from multidisciplinary experts,thereby ensuring the assessment's comprehensiveness and depth.This methodology aims to provide an accurate measure of students'learning potential and prospective academic accomplishments.By using IRT for meticulous refinement and enhancement of questions guarantees a balance in difficulty,discrimination,and guessing parameters,the question quality and effectiveness are improved.Furthermore,the study proposes the adoption of a B/S multi-layer framework-based computer system to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the assessments.This investigation offers innovative perspectives and strategic approaches for promoting the internationalization and quality enhancement of TCM education.关键词
