Research Progress on the Mechanism of Galectin-3 in Type 2 Diabetes and Its Complications
摘要
Abstract
Due to the continuous progression of population aging and changes in residents'lifestyle and dietary habits in China,the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is increasing year by year.The common complications of T2DM include diabetic nephropathy,neuropathy,retinopathy,cardiomyopathy,and vascular disease.The progression of T2DM and its complications has a severe impact on patients'quality of life and prognosis.Galectin-3(Gal-3)is a potent pro-inflammatory factor that plays a significant role in the activation,chemotaxis,and cytokine release of inflammatory cells,which is closely related to abnormal glucose metabolism and related target organ damage.This article reviews the mechanism of action of Gal-3 in T2DM,with the hope of providing new monitoring indicators and therapeutic targets for the prevention and treatment of T2DM and its complications.关键词
