Specialized agglomeration,diversified agglomeration,and regional collaborative innovation:A case study of the Yangtze River Economic Belt

Abstract
Based on the panel data of 106 cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt(YREB)from 2006 to 2019,this study empirically analyzes the impact of specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation.The results indicate that both specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration can significantly promote the level of regional collaborative innovation,and the role played by diversified agglomeration is more obvious.Meanwhile,both specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration have significant spatial spillover effects.Heterogeneity analysis finds that regional collaborative innovation in coastal cities,mega and large cities,and developed cities benefit more from diversified agglomeration,while inland cities,small and medium-sized cities,and less developed cities are more suitable for specialized agglomeration.Further research finds that the positive impact of specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation is strengthened by the increase of market potential and the level of human capital,and that the impact of specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation has a non-linear character,with specialized agglomeration showing a trend of increasing and then decreasing,while the diversified agglomeration is increasing.关键词
