Abstract

Aim:To study the relationship between dietary inflammatory index(DII)and sarcopenia in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)database.Methods:Data on general information,DII,and sarcopenia were collected of COPD patients from NHANES during 1999-2006 and 2012-2018.COPD patients were categorized into Q1 to Q4 groups based on DII quartiles.Logistic regres-sion was used to analyze the relationship between DII and the risk of sarcopenia in COPD patients.Restricted cubic splines was used to analyze the dose-effect relationship between DII and the risk of sarcopenia.Results:The prevalence of sarcope-nia was 22.87%(121/529).Logistic analysis showed that after adjusting for age,race,gender,BMI,drinking,and physical activity,the risk of sarcopenia was higher in groups Q3 and Q4 compared with group Q1,and OR(95%CI)were 2.136(1.121-4.071),2.779(1.571-4.916).The risk of sarcopenia tended to increase in COPD patients in groups Q1,Q2,Q3,and Q4(P<0.05).DII and sarcopenia showed dose-effect relationship when DII ≥2.51(Pnon-linearity=0.030).Conclu-sion:The risk of sarcopenia in COPD patients increases with the increase of DII when DII≥2.51.
