Abstract
Aim:To explore the relationship between fear of progression and disease distress in patients with inflamma-tory bowel disease(IBD)and the mediating effect of social isolation.Methods:A total of 216 patients with IBD who were hospitalized at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were selected for this study.The IBD Distress Scale(IBD-DS),Generalized Social of Alienation Scale(GSAS),and Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form(FoP-Q-SF)were utilized to assess levels of disease distress,social isolation,and fear of progression.Mediating effect of social isolation on the relationship between fear of progression and disease distress in patients was analyzed.Results:The scores of IBD-DS,GSAS and FoP-Q-SF were(107.32±33.97),(38.69±8.80)and(41.32±11.18)in IBD patients.Patients with higher levels of social isolation and fear of progression had higher level of disease distress[β(95％CI)=1.550(1.190-1.911),1.093(0.792-1.395),P＜0.001].Mediating effect of social isolation on the relationship between fear of pro-gression and disease distress was 0.129(95％CI 0.062-0.192),accounting for 26.4％of the total effect.Conclusion:Patients with IBD have a higher level of disease distress.Higher level of fear of progression is associated with greater disease distress.Social isolation plays partial mediating effect on the relationship between fear of progression and disease distress.关键词
