Identification and development of molecular markers for sex in kiwifruit

Abstract
Kiwifruit is a perennial vine,and its dioecious nature makes sex identification important in its breeding process.This study collected and evaluated three sets of developed molecular markers for sex identi-fication in kiwifruit:SmY1,S1032 and FrBy.The results showed that the accuracy of SmY1 and FrBy was 25%for male plants and 100%for female plants,while S1032 failed to amplify specific bands in both male and female samples,and did not show obvious sex specificity.In this study,a pair of new primers,Fr-1,was designed and screened to identify male and female plants of 89 kiwifruit samples with known sexes with 100%accuracy.Furthermore,when applied to seedling sex identification,Fr-1 amplified stable bands,dem-onstrating its practical application value.The Fr-1 marker provides accurate and efficient sex identification in kiwifruit,and can be widely used in breeding practice.关键词
