Study on unloading response and failure mode around horizontal excavation hole for building rectification
摘要
Abstract
Building inclination is commonly rectified using horizontal excavation techniques.However,the stress and displacement fields around small holes are challenging to continuously and accurately characterize through field measurements,and research on the failure modes of surrounding soil remains scarce.This study simplifies horizontal excavation as a plane strain problem and employs finite element methods to investigate the unloading response around small holes,thereby elucidating the rectification mechanism.The results demonstrate that hole-digging induces stress redistribution in the surrounding soil:vertical stresses above and below the holes decrease,while vertical stresses in the soil strips between adjacent holes increase.This stress redistribution intensifies with reduced hole spacing.Displacements near the holes are dominated by inward elastic rebound,whereas the central regions of soil strips exhibit compressive deformation due to stress concentration.Deformation at the foundation base primarily occurs within the soil layer above the holes,with magnitudes significantly smaller than field-measured values.X-shaped shear failure develops around the holes and ultimately connects along the horizontal plane of the excavation.As hole spacing decreases,the plastic failure zones surrounding the holes continuously evolve due to stress redistribution.关键词
